At a 20 February meeting of the Negotiating Group on Rules, Ambassador Einar Gunnarsson of Iceland expressed confidence that members will be able to meet the target of concluding the second wave of fisheries subsidies negotiations by the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) in February 2024, following positive consultations with over 30 delegations in recent weeks. In line with members’ suggestions, Ambassador Gunnarsson will convene four clusters of meetings dubbed as ‘fish weeks’ to intensify negotiations over the coming months.
